We know that we have needs in our school buildings of Merrill Area Public Schools, and we are asking you, the community, to provide feedback on how and when to address these needs. By gathering a group of thoughtful citizens in our upcoming Focus Group Sessions, we hope to gain valuable insight and meaningful input prior to a district-wide survey, coming Fall 2023. We are committed to continued conversations with you as we look ahead to the future needs of our students and community.
Phased Approach to Facilities Planning
Merrill Area Public Schools originally initiated a long-range facilities planning process in fall 2022 with a district-wide facilities study. Our goal for many years has been to address identified facility needs in distinct project phases to make this project affordable for district taxpayers.
Following the completion of a comprehensive Facility Assessment, we were able to identify areas of need in our school buildings and develop a Master Plan to assist with the future planning needs of the district.
Gathering Community & Staff Feedback
The district and the school board will be gathering information from district staff in response to the facilities study to further identify areas of focus for our staff. To engage the community, the district is holding three Facilities Planning Community Focus Group Sessions this summer in order to gather feedback on how and when to address the identified district needs as we create our long-range facilities master plan. The purpose of these Focus Group Sessions is to inform the community on the current state of our buildings and gain valuable community input prior to a district-wide survey.
