Reminder: No School for Spring Break March 24th-28th.

Reminder: No school for Kindergarten through 4th grade on March 21st. All other grades and classes are in session.

The 2nd graders organized themselves into groups at morning recess to race each other. What a beautiful day to be outside!

Second grade students in Mr. Klapperich and Mrs. Whooley Jepson's class are studying the Westward Expansion in our Knowledge Unit. Students were given an optional homework challenge to create a covered wagon at home. Several students participated so we were able to make a wagon train from the creations! Grandparents, parents and students created some ABSOLUTELY AMAZING wagons - some created wagons out of wood, some sewed cloth bags full of flour and sugar, many had water bottles secured to their wagons and seating in the wagons! THANKS to all who participated!

Angela Lersch was our February Attitude of Gratitude Mindsetter of the Month! Angela always has the ability to look at things positively. No matter what the situation is, or if you are just talking about life, she always finds a way to "shine some light". I love her ability and choice to always see a brighter side.
We are so lucky to have her here at Kate Goodrich!

Coin Collection Contest!
We are having a fun all-school coin competition/collection to raise money for the T.B. Scott Free Library in Merrill during Read Across America Week!. Clean out your couches, your car seats, your cars…anywhere where you might find some hidden coins! Bring coins to school to dump in the jars for your class from Monday, March 3 thru Friday, March 7. The front lobby will be decorated to show team progress! We will be weighing the coins each day to see who has the most weight in coins. The winning group for the week will get to do something special with Mrs. Kahr!
Coins collected will be counted and donated to the T.B. Scott Free Library in Merrill!

Over the past two weeks, Kate's students have been putting their heads and hearts together to think of ways they can spread kindness! After reading The Kindness Quilt by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace in guidance class, they got creative and made their very own kindness quilt. Each student contributed a special piece, reflecting their unique ways to make the world a little brighter.

March 3-7th is Read Across America Week! One way we will be celebrating is with dress up days.

Yesterday was our 100th day of school here at Kate Goodrich. I'm not sure who had more fun, the students or the staff! Students were also tasked with finding 100 pictures of Principal Kahr around the building.

Reminder: No School February 13th and 14th.

Don't forget winter gear for our sledding day tomorrow!

Our January Mindsetter of the Month is Mary Frisch! Mary always displays a positive attitude and emulates energy that bring smiles to others. She dedicates her work and life to making it a better place for everyone that connects with her. Thank you Mary for being a bright shiny light in our world here at Kate Goodrich. We love you!

While we were stuck inside for recess most of this week, these kids are making the most of it in 2nd grade!
