The Youth Options program in an opportunity for students in grades 11 and 12 to attend a Wisconsin postsecondary institution for the purpose of taking one or more courses for high school and college credit. There is no limit to the number of credits or courses a student can take through Youth Options each semester.
Under Youth Options, as student does not pay for a college course if the school board determines the course qualifies for high school credit and is not comparable to a course already offered in the school district. If approved by the school board, the student can receive both high school and college credit upon successful completion of the course. A student who successfully completes their high school graduation requirements earn a high school diploma regardless of whether the requirements were met while attending high school or college.
