What will the referendum pay for?
Based on feedback from the Community Survey, key priorities have been identified for:
-
Enhanced industrial/technical education and shop course

Sustaining current programs and high-quality staff
-
Priority building maintenance

What if the referendum fails?
Although the District has cut over $8.9 million since 2007, additional reductions will be required. This may result in:
-
Reduction of staff, causing increased class size and elimination of some programs and services
-
Reduction in the ability to attract and retain the best teachers to MAPS, especially in “hard-to-fill” areas
-
Reduction through consolidation of District facilities
-
Reduction in expenditures for technology and equipment upgrades
-
Reduction in expenditures for priority building maintenance

Regardless of the community vote on April 3, the District will address future consolidations, with parent, staff and community input, that align to student enrollment and the most practical use of District facilities and resources.
